As PMO Manager you will be an integral part of the Transformation Office and partner with the Executive Committee and key business stakeholders across David Jones to collaboratively deliver strategic initiatives as part of the transformation program and the portfolio of prioritised business projects.

As a seasoned PMO Manager, you will have demonstrated experience overseeing business projects being successfully delivered within scope, budget and timeline and within PMO project management methodology and governance processes and well as coaching and developing project managers and project coordinators to build a high-performing team and ensure project teams uphold the company's standards throughout each project's development and execution. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the transformation program planning process, aligned to the strategic planning cycle, across David Jones, working collaboratively with Exco and leadership team  

  • Manage and oversee the Project Management team to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the PMO project management methodology and governance processes. 

  • Ensure projects deliver the parameters defined in their business case i.e. scope, objectives, budget, timeline and benefits. 

  • Ensure project management methodology, tools and templates are in line with the program framework and are used by the project team to support delivery of their projects. 

  • Work with the project management team to track and manage program/portfolio risks, issues, key decisions, projects interdependencies and manages the program pipeline. 

  • Escalate program/portfolio issues, risks and key decisions to the relevant stakeholders in a timely manner. 

  • Work with functional managers and project managers on resource allocation 

  • Provide project management support, mentoring and training to support project teams. 

  • Manage project team/s efficiency and effectiveness, while coordinating and fostering teamwork 

  • Oversee the post implementation review and closure of projects relevant to the program of work 

  • Draft new and improve existing project management office policies, templates and processes. 

  • Continuously evaluate projects to ensure they are meeting company standards, adhering to budgets, and meeting deadlines. Work with cross company stakeholders to champion best practice project management processes. 

  • Build and develop a high-performing project management team and support the development of project resources pool 

 

What you’ll need to Thrive

  •  Project Management certification (e.g. PMI, Prince 2) 
  • Agile methodology certification (ideal)
  • Proven experience managing large and complex programs of work within high-pace environments 
  • Strong project management experience
  • Experience in managing and leading high performing teams 
  • Experience working in a similar role within a similar company, desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills. 
  • Ability to meet tight timelines without compromising quality of deliverables. Effective time management  
  • Strong attention to details and technicalities. 
  • Commercial mindset with a customer focus 
  • Strong problem-solving ability and analytical skills 
  • Proven ability to deliver projects within scope, time and budget
