The role
As a User Interface Designer at David Jones, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital experience for our customers. You will be responsible for managing web templates, evolving and maintaining our elemental design system, and creating user-cantered designs that enhance the overall digital journey. This role offers a high degree of exposure to key stakeholders and the senior leadership team, owning key experiences, both new and old, as well as the opportunity to be at the forefront of our multi-channel digital transformation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces.
- Design and maintain web templates that align with David Jones' brand identity and standards.
- Develop and maintain the David Jones molecular design system to ensure consistency and efficiency across all digital touchpoints.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to illustrate design concepts and facilitate feedback and iteration.
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and analysis to inform design decisions and continuously improve the digital experience.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and excellence in UI design.
- Work closely with developers to ensure seamless implementation of design solutions and adherence to design specifications.
What are we looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
- Proven experience as a UI Designer with 3+ years experience with a strong portfolio showcasing your design skills and understanding of user experience principles.
- Experience within App development and eCommerce a must.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, or similar software.
- Familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and responsive design principles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively articulate design concepts and rationale.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating exceptional user experiences.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
